Dear Families and Staff,

We are all stressed and navigating the "new normal." "Stressed adults can not teach stressed children. It is a neuro-biological impossibility. Try focusing on connections and feelings of safety."

Friendly reminder to check that you're not holding tension in your body. Let your shoulders drop, unclench your hands and jaw. Take a deep breath. Much better.

What is PBSES?

PBSES (Positive Behavior Social Emotional Support)  in Issaquah is a district initiative targeting students in elementary through middle school.  We have combined PBIS with Social/Emotional Learning, positive relationships, and proactive classroom management to support the whole child when establishing expectations and preventative behavior supports.

ABOUT ME

Hello, I'm Amanda Blashaw, and I'm thrilled to be the PBSES Coach at Sunset Elementary! I went to Western Washington University, taught in Ireland, and have spent my entire full-time educator career in Issaquah - initially for several years as a 1st grade teacher at Grand Ridge Elementary, and now at Sunset Elementary as the PBSES Coach.

I believe that every child can be successful in school
and in life with the right supports.
